Fred & Elizabeth Boyajian Lecture: February 6, 2025

February 6, 2025 @ 7:00 PM Online/Virtual Lecture | Join us on February 6th, 2025 for our Fred and Elizabeth Boyajian Lecture Series, "Lest We Forget," Spring Lecture.

We will be discussing Dr. Toni Anderson's book Tell Them We Are Singing for Jesus: The Original Fisk Jubilee Singers and Christian Reconstruction, 1871-1878.

Author Dr. Toni Anderson will present a lecture on her book Tell Them We Are Singing for Jesus: The Original Fisk Jubilee Singers and Christian Reconstruction, 1871-1878. This historic choral ensemble from Fisk University toured the US and Europe under the sponsorship of the American Missionary Association, Fisk's parent organization. The Jubilees' concerts featured Negro spirituals, the religious songs of their ancestors. Their rise to international fame is an inspiring story of how these young AMA singing ambassadors saved Fisk from financial ruin, challenged America’s systemic racism, and promoted the cause of freedom.
